Announcing the newly formed American Society for Medical Shockwave Treatment, conceptualized to fill a void in the field of medical shockwave to support physicians and other medical professionals seeking to expand their knowledge, use, and clinical proficiency on all things shockwave. Inspired by the International Society for Medical Shockwave Treatment, our founding members recognized an opportunity gap and the need to create a North American organization.
ASMST is mission-driven and dedicated to advancing the applications, uses, and clinical proficiencies of shockwave technology across multi-disciplines in medicine to treat a wide range of conditions, injuries, disorders, and diseases and improve patient outcomes and experiences. Moreover, we’re committed to being the go-to resource for educational and practical applications of medical shockwave and promoting the collaborative exchange of information, experience, and knowledge through research, education, instruction, and certification, and create a medical shockwave community for healthcare professionals — to learn, mentor, and grow. And you’ll find yourself in good company with others engaged in the pursuit of shockwave excellence.
ASMST engages medical professionals and researchers at the regional, national, and international levels.
Shockwave was initially revealed to the medical community worldwide fifty years ago when it was used successfully to eradicate urinary stones. In 1982, Shockwave Therapy was introduced into clinical practice to manage and treat urological conditions.
Since its inception, the ever-increasing body of clinical evidence has supported the use of medical shockwave in the fields of Urology, Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, Pain Management & Rehabilitation, Aesthetic Medicine, Wound Healing, Neurology, Cardiology, and Veterinary Medicine, to name a few.
Heralded as one the most innovative technologies in medicine today — shockwave distinguishes itself by facilitating impressive patient outcomes including the repair, regeneration, and restoration of tissue, musculoskeletal and vascular structures.
